( I guess this is for Kage since I said I'd make it a while ago? x: )
"Alright, that brings your total to 2,650¥..." After quickly bagging the books on the table and grabbing the customers money, the girl behind the cash register smiled, "Please, have a nice day!" With a swift bow the girl sighed. It was about to be closing time, which meant she was free for the rest of the day. It was one of the days the shop closed early, around the afternoon, one of the privileges of it being a family owned place. Yawning, the girl looked out the window, watching as a bunch of different people walked by. Some people would stop by the window of the shop and look in to see what deals they had before moving on. The shop didn't get as much business as some places, but it managed.
Moving from behind the counter, the girl made her way to the door. It was almost closing time, so she could get away with putting up the 'closed' sign. However, just as she was about half-way there...
"Xiuying!" Someone called from the back, "I need you to grab a couple boxes for me!"
"Alright, coming!" She decided to get the sign later, getting a few boxes wouldn't take too long. Opening the door leading to the storage room, the girl, Xiuying, looked around. Apparently by a 'couple boxes' her boss meant twenty. "Good thing they're small..." she sighed, the door closing behind her.
Her boss looked up, giving her a smile, "These are the new arrivals, we're just going to take about six to put under the counter." Her words made Xiuying once again sigh--this time in relief. Moving boxes were her least favourite part of this job, next to dealing with bad customers.
"Oh, okay. I'll get these out then." With that, she bent down and picked up two of the boxes before heading back out to the actual store.

Brian wandered the streets, looking for a place to spend his day. He didn't know why his father had dragged him here from Scotland, but he just decided to go with it. He noticed a store that was rather empty, so he decided to take a look - if he went into a crowded store, it would just cause more trouble, with people hurriedly trying to avoid him because of his sword, knocking into shelves and knocking stuff over.
Just before walking in, though, he noticed a rather pretty girl carrying boxes from a back room towards the front of the store. Sighing, Brian walked in to lend her a hand. "That's not a woman's job, let me help. Are there any other boxes?" he asked her.

Hearing the bell on the door jingle, the girl glanced up. If it was another customer, they'd probably browse around first, which would give her enough time to just set the boxes down. Except when she looked at the person she had to do a double take--and that caused her to lose her grip on her boxes. It seemed that they...had a sword! Making a sputtering noise, she quickly regained hold of the boxes before they hit the floor. Now she was a little...panicked to say the least.
'How am I supposed to deal with someone who has a sword? Oh, he might be here to rob us...' She took a deep breath to try to calm down, 'Okay, just...be calm and I'm sure Ms. Takuya--' Her thought process was cut short when the person spoke to her though. Not like she heard all of what he said. "Um...w-what?" Mentally she slapped herself, did she have to stutter it out like that?! Straightening up, she cleared her throat. Having caught the last part of what he said, she replied, "O-Oh, well um...there's only one more box left. It's alright, they aren't heavy. Thank you for offering." Yeah, that sounded polite enough, maybe he wouldn't sacrifice her soul if he thought she was nice.

Brian noticed how flustered she got, but was quite used to it by now. "Don't mind the sword, it's just a family tradition that I have to carry it around. I'm not some crazy slasher guy or anything," he said, smiling. He then proceeded to look around at the different items in the store, anything to keep himself busy. It was almost closing time for most stores that he could remember, so maybe he could make a friend out of this girl by hanging out with her for the afternoon.

The boy's words did nothing to soothe her. If anything, it made her even more nervous. "F-For all I know he could just be saying that and he really WILL sacrifice my soul..." She mumbled under her breath, low enough so he couldn't hear her. It would be bad if it some how sent him off and he ended up just--never mind. Shoving the boxes under the counter, Xiuying looked around, a bit suspicious. Being a small shop, it didn't have one of those alarm systems like banks do. You know, the ones that are under the counter? That'd really come in handy just about now.
'Okay, just...inhale, exhale...You will be fine if you're calm.' That was her attempt at trying to give herself a pep talk, it was kind of working as she didn't feel as nervous. 'It could be that he's telling the truth, and he won't attack anything...' Just as she was once again exiting from behind the counter, she heard her boss.
"YOUNG MAN!" Her boss bellowed, coming out from the back and carrying about three boxes, "I DO NOT ALLOW SWORDS IN THIS STORE. Please leave it outside or I will be forced to remove you from this store!" The girl's boss made it sound like she dealt with people who had swords all the time; like it wasn't a strange occurrence. Then again, knowing her boss, she had probably dealt with a few weirdos like this in her life time...

Brian jumped when he heard the yelling woman. He looked at her, and then hung his head. "Sorry... I guess I should've expected that, everyone hates my sword..." he said, heading for the door. On his way out, he looked at Xiuying. "If you change your mind, I'll be just outside. It's not like I have anywhere else to go," he said, with an attempt at a smile. He then walked out and sat down on a nearby bench, waiting to see if she would come.

Xiuyuing sighed, it seemed like the boy wasn't going to go on a mass murdering spree. He even looked a little sad, it seemed like. "D-Do you think you were a little harsh?" The girl asked her boss, looking at the woman who was setting the rest of the boxes down. It seemed she brought the rest out on her own...what a strong old woman.
"Nah!" Her boss shrugged, standing up straight behind the counter, "He'll be alright. Men are supposed to be strong, ohohohoho!" With that, she smacked Xiyuying on the back before making her way into the back. Letting out a yelp, the girl just nodded and smiled sheepishly. He said he'd be outside, maybe she would go and apologize to him...Yeah, she assumed that'd be okay.
"XIUYING!" Her boss called from the back, making the girl jump, "It's my turn to close up today, so you can leave!"
"Alright!" With that, Xiuying locked up the cash register and flipped the sign to show it was close, "Okay, see you tomorrow Ms. Takuya!" Hearing a faint 'Bye!' from the back, she opened the door and stepped outside. Looking around, she noticed the guy was actually out there. "Hey! I'm sorry for my boss yelling at you, she's pretty strict." Was what she ended up saying as she sat on the end of the bench opposite of him.

He was surprised she had come out so quickly. "Oh, well, I'm used to it. Everyone either avoids me, or looks at me funny, but if I don't carry it around, my dad'll get mad. He says it's our duty, because of our heritage," he said, unhooking the sheath and holding it up. "I never use it, though, so it's in perfect condition. Wanna see?" he asked.

Duty? Heritage? That was a little...odd, to say the least. Xiuying was pretty sure her face showed that she was kind of confused. "I...see. You don't see people carrying around swords...that often." Was all she had to say, wondering how one should respond to something like that. Like she had said, it wasn't like you walked outside and someone had a sword. Did he not duel? Cause that seemed how most people solved their problems, not have sword fights.
When he held up his sword for her to see, she looked a little surprised. "A-Ah, no it's alright. It looks kind of heavy and I don't want to drop it and break it." 'Or someone's foot...' She added in her head, sighing sheepishly.

Brian just said a slight "okay" and hooked it back to his belt. He then saw the confused look on her face, and decided to explain. "See, I'm from Scotland - a descendant of knights. The Sinclair clan, if you know of them," he said. He then moved to stand up, but his deck fell out of his pocket. "Ah, crap. Second time this week, I seriously need to fix that..." he said, beginning to pick them up.

Okay, she had never heard of them before, so...She would just pretend she understood what he had said. "Aaah...I see. I guess that makes sense." Knights still existed? The girl had just assumed knights were a fairy tale kind of thing. Evidently not. Blinking, she noticed the boy had dropped his deck on the ground. "Ah! I'll help you with that." Xiuying offered, picking up a few cards and handing them to him. It kind of shocked her that he would also duel, but it was to be expected. They did live in a world where that was common. "I didn't really peg you as a duelist."

"Oh, well, my father works at a dueling company, and I thought it was pretty fun, so I started playing. I got all these cards from him, too," he said. Once they had finished picking them up, he showed them to her. "They're a series known as X-Sabers, have you heard of them?" he asked.
|

That made sense...but if he worked at a dueling company, why would he want his son to carry a sword? Never mind, she would stop thinking about the whole sword thing. It didn't seem like he was dangerous or meant any ill will or anything. "Oh, I see. That makes sense." Nodding, she looked at the cards he was showing her. "When I went to school, I knew someone who used X-Sabers, they seemed to be pretty good. From what I saw when he dueled." Aahh, those brought back her memories of Duel Academia.

Brian laughed, stacking all the cards back together, taking his duel disk out of his pack, and putting his deck into it. "They're better than 'pretty good.' Here, we can have a test duel right now!" he offered.
|
|

Xiuying grinned, she hadn't dueled in what seemed like forever. She didn't really seem to have much time nowadays what with the job hunt and all. "Sure! I feel like I've been getting rusty." With that, she grabbed the duel disk that was in the bag she had around her shoulders. She didn't have to look for her deck because it was already in her duel disk. "But...now that I think about it, we probably shouldn't have a duel on the sidewalk..."

"Alright, so where should we go?" he asked, looking around. There were quite a few people, so a duel would definitely clog up traffic.

Xiuying gestured towards the park ( that was even named 'Duel Park' ) that was just a little bit away from where they were standing, "That place should be fine, right?" Even from where she was standing, there were quite a few people standing in the park that were dueling. It was spacious though--so they didn't have to worry about not having enough room to duel. "How about it?" She asked while adjusting the duel disk she had in her arms.

"Sure, let's go," he said, beginning to walk towards the park. "So what kind of deck do you use?" he asked her as they headed towards their destination.

"Ah, I use a uhm...fairy deck currently." Xiuying replied as she walked beside the boy. Glancing at him, she realized...she didn't know his name, did she? Well, she knew his last name. Sinclair or something. "Oh, I don't think I introduced myself, I'm Xiuying." She said, giving him a smile. How could she forget to introduce herself to someone? 'That was very rude...'

"Fairies, eh? Interesting," he said, trying to think of what fairies he knew of. Actually... he didn't know much about any cards other than his own. Once Xiuying introduced herself, though, he jumped. "Oh! I'm sorry, I forgot too. I'm Brian," he said, returning the smile. Eventually, they reached the park, and the surrounding people, noticing the two wearing duel disks, made a sort of circle, with an opening for the pair to walk in and start their match. "Well, looks like we'll have spectators. Hope I don't embarrass myself," he said, chuckling, and walking into position.

"Ha, it's nice to meet you, Brian." Was all she said as they finished making their way to the park. And, when they got there, sure enough people did crowd around them. "Oooh, I don't really like crowds..." She mumbled to herself, sighing. It wasn't like she got nervous in front of crowds, she was pretty used to it, it was just that she felt she wasn't that entertaining. However, from what she could tell, there weren't that many people watching them. Hopefully it wouldn't go too bad. "Don't worry, I'll probably end up embarrassing myself." And with that, her duel disk was activated.

"Ladies first," Brian offered, activating his own and drawing his starting hand of 5 cards.

"Oh, thank you." Xiuying said as she drew her sixth card. Looking at her hand, she placed a card in her duel disk, "Alright, I'll activate the continuous magic card Castle of the Gods - Valhalla! This allows me to special summon a monster from my hand if I don't have any on my side of the field. And through it's effect I shall special summon the monster Dark Valkyria from my hand." Once the monster was on the field, it disappeared and reappeared once more. "Now, since it is a Gemini monster, I can normal summon it to have it be treated as an effect monster. And through it's effect, it gains one spell counter, raising it's attack by three hundred."
So, now on her side of the field was a 2100 attack powered monster. Taking a deep breath, she showed him another magic card in her hand. "Now, I activate the field magic Angel Ring! This gives a two hundred attack boost to all fairy monsters on the field. And to finish my turn, I'll set a car. Your go!"

"Not bad, not bad at all. Now it's my turn," Brian said, drawing his sixth. He looked at his hand and smiled. "I'll start with setting two card face down. Then, I summon XX-Saber Boggart Knight. Unfortunately, I don't have a level four or lower X-saber in my hand to use his effect. I can, however, do this!" he said, pulling out a magic card of his own. "Saber Slash! This card destroys a number of face-up cards on the field equal to the number of X-sabers I control, and I think I'll choose your Valkyria. And while we're on the subject of destroying things, I'll use Mystical Space Typhoon to blow away your Valhalla. Finally, I'll attack directly with Boggart Knight for 1900 damage. That's all," he said, finally exhaling.

Tch, her monster was already destroyed..."I see, now it's my turn!" Grimacing, she noticed there wasn't much she could do..."I activate my Hecatrice's effect, I can discard it and add another Castle of the Gods - Valhalla from my deck to my hand." Once retrieving the card, she paused, waiting for her deck to finish shuffling itself. There were a couple of things she could do, she just didn't know if she should do them.
"Now, I will summon Dunamis Valkyrie!" Xiuying exclaimed as the light counter part of the monster that was destroyed appeared on the field. Just like it's counterpart, it also had 1800 attack points, that was now boosted up to 2000 thanks to the field magic that was in effect. And...now came the decision of attacking or not..."Ah, screw it, Dunamis Valkyrie! Attack his monster!"

Brian smiled. "Should've listened to yourself. I activate Mirror Force!" he said, revealing his second face down.

Sighing, Xiuying just motioned for Brian to start with his turn. "I end my turn!" It was good to get that stupid Mirror Force out of the way...especially when she brought out her higher level monsters. 'If I can even do that...' she thought, gritting her teeth. There wasn't much she could do right now...

"I activate my set card, Call of the Living Dead!" Xiuying exclaimed as the set card on her side of the field revealed itself, "And now, I revive my Dunamis Valkyrie!" Since her monster's attack would be one hundred points over her opponent's monster...this meant it would be destroyed. When her monster materialized back on the field, it went in for a counter-attack.

"I call off my attack then. I switch Boggart Knight to Defense mode and end my turn," Brian said.
(Since the number of monsters on your side of the field changed, I got a replay, which means I got to choose again whether to attack or not, and since I didn't attack, I was able to change his position. Cause I know those questions are about to start flying @_@)
